BLM Inspired Artwork

The art series started with the Illustrator software, "live trace" function, that was used to simplify a photo of George Floyd for a 28" x 36" poster.

I was inspired by the beaded aesthetic and how different densities and compositions defined the shading and dimension in the photo.

I played with variations and ended up with a set of evolving shapes that I used in new compositions to evoke feelings of momentum and displacement

The gold center represents the preservation of wealth, completely detached from the tapestry of displaced cultures

The shapes and the colors are inspired by themes of resilience, respect, community and diversity

Prints are available in my Etsy shop and 20% of all purchases will be donated to NAACP
